Annea Lockwood (born 1939, New Zealand) is known for her explorations of the rich world of natural acoustic sounds and environments, in works ranging from sound art and installations to concert music. The Sound Map of the Housatonic River is Lockwood’s third river study. A Sound Map of the Danube (2005) has been presented in national parks and galleries along the river, from Ulm (Germany) to Tulcea (Romania), including the Fehér Gólya Múzeum of the Duna-Dráva National Park, Hungary. A Sound Map of the Hudson River (1982) has been presented extensively in the US, Europe and New Zealand
