Jon Rose has been at the forefront of exploring the possibilities of the violin for decades. For Tectonics Glasgow 2016 he performs Palimpolin using the k-bow, an interactive violin bow he invented himself, which fuses the worlds of ancient musical expression and modern technology. Labyrinthine, is an exploration of female identity and voice within the apparatus of opera. It sees the performers jump while singing and break up single melodic lines into multiple voicings through hockets and patterns, playing with shifting identities and the physicality of virtuosity.

Tectonics Glasgow will bring together once again a wide range of artists from various musical disciplines to City Halls and the Old Fruitmarket for a weekend where anything can – and probably will – happen.
